Municipality Prnjavor is a winner of BEACON status for the best practice in the area “effective strategic planning” for Strategic plan of development of Municipality Prnjavor for period 2003.-2010.

Very strict procedure of selection by the representative of the Council of Europe and OSCE mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina, government of Great Britain and Switzerland and as well as by the Association of the municipalities and the cities of Republic of Srpska and Association of the municipalities and the cities of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina makes sure that the municipalities which were awarded with this status are really worthy of that recognition and that they can serve as the model to the others.

Awarding of BEACON status means spreading of the best practice and exchange of the experience with the other municipalities. “Open days of Municipality Prnjavor” were organized and on that occasion the municipalities, representatives of  Association of the municipalities and the cities of Republic of Srpska, representatives of OSCE and the representatives on non-governmental organizations were invited to exchange the best practice. On that occasion a presentation took place on which the achievements of Municipality Prnjavor in different areas of strategic planning of development were presented. The “Study on research of the case” was made. This study consists of adopted practice in the work of the municipalities within the area, which the municipality was awarded BEACON status for and enables detailed insight into experiences achieved within the certain area.

Returning visit of BEACON municipality Strafordshire from Great Britain was organized in the period 18^th-19^th September 2006. which was awarded that status on the bases of strategic planning of the development of the municipality.

The second BECON status Municipality Prnjavor was awarded in 2009. for theme “Establishing and using of data bases in local community”, which determines the quality of the service offered by Administrative service.
